Prof. Görel NYMAN
Sweden
EBVS® European Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia
My contribution to veterinary anaesthesiology has primarily been teaching and development of the subject. I graduated as a veterinarian in Uppsala 1982 and worked in general practice for two years before I was employed at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala. I defended my PhD thesis “Pulmonary function in the anaesthetized horse - analysis of gas exchange and effects of selective ventilation of dependent lung regions” in 1987 and became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia in 1998.
Today I work as a professor at the Veterinary and Veterinary Nursing programme at the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, with work ranging from clinical anaesthetic services, teaching and research. I live on a farm with my family and my interests include horse breeding, skiing and music.
