Prof. Francesco Quaglio graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Bologna with 110/110 cum laude. He attended the Center for the study of fish diseases of the l.Z.S. of Turin, in order to learn the fundamental notions of ichthyopathology, the hygiene of intensive fish farms, the prophylaxis of diffusive fish diseases and laboratory methods for diagnostic purposes. He obtained the title of PhD, with the thesis: 'Reproduction and fattening tests of the giant freshwater shrimp (Macrobrachium rosenbergii de Man)'. He carried out experimental work on pathology, prophylaxis and therapy on farmed fish species in Udine, at the Ittiopathology Laboratory of the I.Z.S delle Venezie. In 1990 he assumed the role of Researcher at the University of Bologna. In 2006 he took up service in Padua as associate professor. He participates in research projects in the field of aquaculture and ichthyopathology. He is the author and co-author of over one hundred publications on these topics.
