Royal Veterinary College Internships and Residencies

Internships

Small Animal Internships
The programme is designed for highly motivated recent veterinary graduates (typically less than five years) who wish to expand their clinical knowledge, skills and experience in all aspects of small animal practice, working under supervision in a multidisciplinary referral hospital, and participating in the provision of an emergency out-of-hours service. It is a suitable foundation (and often necessary step) for you if you wish to pursue specialist post graduate clinical training in a specific discipline (Residency), and also provides excellent experience for those wishing to return to general practice.
Dr Stefano Cortellini -  scortellini@rvc.ac.uk / Dr Joe Fenn - jfenn@rvc.ac.uk

Equine Internship

The programme begins with an introduction and orientation week that is partially shared with the small animal interns.  The remainder of the year is divided into rotation blocks of varying lengths.
You will rotate through equine soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, equine medicine, large animal anaesthesia and large animal diagnostic imaging. The time spend on each service will depend on requirements of the hospital.
You will also participate in the out of hours (OOH) rota and you should expect to work a one in four or one in three rota. Very occasionally, depending on demand, working a one in two rota might be necessary.
Two weeks of extra mural study (EMS) time will be allocated to you in the second half of your programme.

Veterinary Primary Accessible Care Internship

This is a 1-year full time post graduate diploma based in London.
Interns will receive advanced training and support in education (gaining an AFHEA) and apply this theory teaching RVC students the joys of primary care and shelter medicine. You will have a variety of placements in hospital and charity partner sites (mainly based in Camden, London).
