This internship provides a unique opportunity to improve your knowledge and skills in Companion Animal Internal Medicine and contribute to the well-being of animals in a collaborative and supportive environment. You will learn under the close supervision of four experienced veterinary specialists in internal medicine to diagnose and manage a variety of internal medicine cases. You will participate in rounds, case discussions, and contribute to the development of diagnostic and treatment plans for our patients in collaboration with a diverse team of veterinary professionals from other disciplines.

This specialized internship represents an excellent opportunity to benefit from high-quality training under the supervision of Dr. Aurélie Sauvage (ECVO diplomate) and Dr. Florine Narinx (board-eligible resident). The candidate will also work in collaboration with a second specialized intern. He/she will participate in consultations, surgeries, and the care of hospitalized animals (small animals and horses). He/she will also play a key role in student training. The ophthalmology case load is around 1000 cases for companion animals and 300 cases for horses per year, with some cases involving exotic pets.

This internship and residency provide a unique opportunity to improve your knowledge and skills in Companion Animal Diagnostic Imaging starting May 1st (Internship followed by Residency starting September 15th), or September 1st (Internship only) 2025. The RVC Small Animal Internship is a world-renowned rotating internship programme for veterinary surgeons.  
The qualification of Post Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Clinical Practice (PG Dip VCP) has been aligned to the RVC internship programme. All small animal interns (post graduate students) will be enrolled in the PG Dip VCP and will be expected to complete the course during their internship year. The internship programme is based at the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals - the RVC's referral teaching hospital at the Hawkshead campus, Hertfordshire.
