Through I-RESTART, EBVS helped create veterinary learning resources and developed practical tools for recording and sharing learning achievements and specialist status. The project has concluded; its outputs provide a foundation for further education and credential development.

Making learning and specialist status easier to verify
EBVS explored how European digital credential frameworks could document veterinary learning and specialist qualifications. The work produced a specialist credential prototype, tested technical profiles and practical guidance for organisations issuing credentials.
Working prototype
A digital credential for veterinary specialists
EBVS implemented an Open Badges 3.0 credential for specialist status, issued under its own digital identifier and signing key.
The credential was tested with the 1EdTech validator and successfully imported into an independently operated badge wallet. This provides a practical foundation for credentials that specialists can hold and share, with verifiable information about the awarding body and award.

Digital credentialing guidance
The D8.6 Credential Report examines how the DC4EU framework can support vocational learning and professional qualifications, with worked examples for veterinary education.
Its outputs include an issuing protocol, tested validation profiles and guidance on recording learning outcomes, assessment and supervised workplace evidence. These give Colleges, awarding bodies and education providers a practical starting point for their own credential development.
Building on the project
The report sets out a development route for veterinary credentials, including migration of the Diplomate award to a VET Diploma profile and further work on credentials for maintained specialist status. It also identifies opportunities for AGRIFOODSKILLS to develop links between competencies, curricula and evidence from workplace learning.
