All stages of the tenure track can be entered directly depending on the applicant’s career stage. The aim of the tenure track system is to grant tenure and a permanent position as Professor. The position will be at the Department of Production Animal Medicine in Mäntsälä campus (approximately one hour north of Helsinki). The appointee will be responsible for teaching, research and continuing education of health and diseases of monogastric production animals. The main focus will be in pig health and diseases, however, the appointee will also carry responsibility for coordinating teaching of poultry medicine. The appointee will be required to have experience in clinical pig medicine, including diseases of individual animals and population level preventive healthcare.

The main focus can be either in small animal or equine diagnostic imaging, however, teaching will also include relevant aspects in production animal medicine.

The UCD Veterinary Hospital has state of the art equipment including CT, MRI, ultrasound, interventional radiology, full endoscopy and arthroscopy, laser, a radioactive iodine unit and fully equipped surgical and intensive care suites. Ancillary support includes rehabilitation and physiotherapy. The Small Animal Clinical Studies Section currently has capacity for 13 Clinical Academics Clinicians including four surgery, six internal medicine, two emergency and critical care and one oncology specialist. These staff are supported by 10 interns (rotating and discipline specific), 9 residents and a full team of ancillary staff.

This specialized internship represents an excellent opportunity to benefit from high-quality training under the supervision of Dr. Aurélie Sauvage (ECVO diplomate) and Dr. Florine Narinx (board-eligible resident). The candidate will also work in collaboration with a second specialized intern. He/she will participate in consultations, surgeries, and the care of hospitalized animals (small animals and horses). He/she will also play a key role in student training. The ophthalmology case load is around 1000 cases for companion animals and 300 cases for horses per year, with some cases involving exotic pets.

We invite applications for a three-year residency programme in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, which will start on 01/10/2025. The residency is designed to prepare candidates for the ECVAA Diploma. Throughout the programme, residents will gain extensive experience in clinical anaesthesia and engage in clinical research. You will have the privilege of learning under the supervision of 2 ECVAA and 1 ACVAA diplomate. Your responsibilities will include actively participating in the management of patients admitted for anaesthesia for various surgical and diagnostic procedures. Additionally, you will be involved in a one-in-four on-call rotation and will contribute to the teaching commitment of the anaesthesia team.

Our hospital is fully-equipped including an ultrasound unit dedicated to the cardiology department with 3D probe, CT scan, MRI, C-arm. Our team includes more than 20 specialists in various fields. The cardio team includes 2 seniors and 2 residents. We are routinely conducting advanced cardiac diagnostic imaging, and interventional procedures. Our Caseload is around 1500 cases a year.

This internship and residency provide a unique opportunity to improve your knowledge and skills in Companion Animal Diagnostic Imaging starting May 1st (Internship followed by Residency starting September 15th), or September 1st (Internship only) 2025. You will learn under the close supervision of 9 ECVDI diplomates and 1 senior clinicians in diagnostic imaging. You will participate in the management of patients admitted to diagnostic imaging during the daytime schedule, in emergencies and oncall, including some large animal cases. You will be actively involved in the supervision of students.

This internship provides a unique opportunity to improve your knowledge and skills in Small Animal Reproduction starting October 1, 2025. You will learn under the close supervision of 1 ECAR  diplomate. The intern will participate in the management of patients admitted to reproductive and obstetrical consultations, as well as surgical procedures, post-operative (hospitalization) and on-call duty. He/she will be actively involved in the supervision of students, including primary care consultations at a local shelter.

The internships and residency provide a unique opportunity to improve your knowledge and skills in Companion Animal Emergency and Critical care, starting on July 1st (Residency), or September or October 1st, 2025. You will learn under the close supervision of 2ECVECCdiplomates and a senior clinician in ECC. The intern will participate in the management of patients admitted to the emergency service, as well as residing in the intensive care service. The ECC-service has a state-of-the-art equipment, including but not limited to mechanical ventilation and extracorporeal therapies. He/she will be actively involved in supervising students.
