Josie graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2013. She undertook a rotating internship at the Philip Leverhulme Equine Hospital, University of Liverpool in 2015 and an ophthalmology internship at Langford Vets, University of Bristol in 2018. She completed a combined ECVO residency and Master of Science degree at the University of Edinburgh in 2021. She remained at the University of Edinburgh following her residency and was accepted onto the Edinburgh Clinical Academic Track (ECAT) Lectureship programme in 2024 to complete a PhD funded by the Wellcome Trust.
