Lisa Mestrinho graduated in 2003 in Portugal. While working as a veterinary surgeon in several small animal clinics and hospitals, she embraced academia in 2008, holds two master’s degrees (2010 and 2015) and a PhD in veterinary sciences (2016). She also holds a bachelor’s degree in human health sciences (2018) and a specialization in High Education Pedagogy (2022). She became a Fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry in 2017 and a diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College in 2023 and of the European Veterinary Dental College in 2024. Lisa Mestrinho works as an Associate Professor with habilitation of the Clinical Department of the Veterinary Faculty - Lisbon University, where she leads the dentistry and oral surgery service of the teaching hospital of the same faculty. She is also a clinical researcher at her institution’s research center and associate lab (CIISA and Al4Animals), contributing with frequent scientific publications in the field of veterinary dentistry and oromaxillofacial surgery. Aiming to improve oral health of all species, Lisa Mestrinho also works as a dentistry and oral surgery consultant in other practices, hospitals and institutions, mentors undergraduate and postgraduate students, professionals and researchers and is actively involved in several scientific and professional societies.
