PD Dr. med. vet. Jens Becker is an EBVS® European Specialist in Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law, currently serving as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Clinic for Ruminants, Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern. Dr. Becker’s work is marked by a strong foundation in clinical veterinary medicine and specialized research. He earned his Dr. med. vet. degree in 2015 through a collaborative program between the Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse (ENVT) and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (LMU). He subsequently completed his PhD at the University of Bern’s Graduate School for Cellular and Biomedical Sciences in 2020. In 2023, Dr. Becker achieved his Habilitation (Venia docendi) for ‘Farm animal health’ at the University of Bern, where he also completed a Course of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Higher Education Didactics. His commitment to the field culminated in Board Certification in 2025. Beyond his clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr. Becker is committed to the research community, placing a high priority on collaboration, and the continuous exchange of specialized knowledge. He maintains an extensive international network of peers and experts to drive forward the latest advancements in animal welfare and ruminant health, ensuring that innovative research translates into practical veterinary life.
