Dr. Emma Bellei graduated with honors in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 1999. In 2002, she completed advanced clinical training in Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery at the Centre Vétérinaire D.M.V. (Montréal, Québec, Canada) and the Hôpital Vétérinaire Daubigny (Québec, Canada), under the supervision of Dr. Yvan Dumais (Diplomate AVDC). In 2004, she obtained a PhD in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care from the University of Bologna. From 2003 to 2019, she was responsible for the management of patients with oral and maxillofacial diseases at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the University of Bologna. Between 2008 and 2011, she participated in research projects on inflammatory diseases of the feline oral cavity at the Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences, University of Bologna. In 2009, she completed additional clinical training at the Department of Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery, University of Pennsylvania (USA). Since October 2013, Dr. Bellei has been Head of the Dentistry and Oral Surgery Service at the AniCura I Portoni Rossi Veterinary Hospital in Zola Predosa (Bologna), Italy. In December 2020, she completed a Residency Programme in Veterinary Dentistry under the supervision of Dr. Margherita Gracis and, in 2025, became a Diplomate of the European Veterinary Dental College (EVDC). Dr. Bellei is the author and co-author of numerous national and international scientific publications and is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences and continuing education courses in veterinary dentistry and oral and maxillofacial surgery. Since 2018, she has served on the Board of the Italian Society of Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery (SIODOCOV), where she currently serves as President.
