Since his bachelor's degree in 1984, Juan Vicente has worked exclusively in bovine medicine. In 1986, he joined college part-time but never leaving private clinical practice. He is currently a Professor of Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. In 2007, he founded Trialvet Asesoría e Investigación Veterinaria SL, a company from which to carry out pharmaceutical clinical trials. He has done numerous studies with NSAIDs, antibiotics, and vaccines. The union of the three aspects: doctor, teacher, and clinical researcher provided a special point of view in bovine medicine and especially in the topics related to neonatal digestive and respiratory pathology and the cow in transition. This practical experience has been reflected in several books on neonatal calf diarrhea, bovine respiratory disease, obstetrics, and pathology. He has also been very active in veterinary associations. In 1990 he was one of the founders of ANEMBE, in this association he has developed many positions, being among others the editor of the association's magazine for 16 years. In 2016 he became a member of the Executive Committee of the World Association of Buiatrics, WAB, achieving with ANEMBE that the World Congress of Buiatrics of 2022 is held in Madrid.
