Dr Larenza Menzies qualified from La Plata Veterinary Faculty, Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1994. After her graduation, she worked in private practice in Argentina and Italy. Between 2001 and 2004 she completed a doctorate (Dr. med. vet) and a residency in veterinary anaesthesia at the Vetsuisse–Faculty of the University of Bern, Switzerland. She was awarded the Diploma of the European College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia in 2005. Thereafter, Dr Larenza Menzies transferred to the Anesthesia Section of the Equine Clinic at the Vetsuisse-Faculty in Zurich where she enrolled in a PhD program and was dedicated to studying the effects of S-ketamine in horses. She successfully passed her thesis defence in 2011. From 2007 until 2012, Dr Larenza Menzies was appointed as an Assistant Professor in Anaesthesiology and head of the Small Animal Anaesthesia Service at the Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, USA. In 2013, Dr Larenza Menzies joined the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Helsinki, Finland as an Assistant Professor - Tenure Track. From 2015 until 2020, Dr Larenza Menzies was appointed as a Full Professor at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, Austria. Currently, Dr Larenza Menzies works as an Adjunct Professor at Massey University, New Zealand and as a freelance consultant in the area of veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia.
