Jimmy Saunders graduated in 1993, became Diplomate of the ECVDI in 1999, was granted a PhD degree in 2003 and obtained professorship in 2007. He was President of the ECVDI from 2010 till 2012, President of the EBVS (European Board of Veterinary Specialists) from 2017 till 2019 and he is since 2020 President of VetCEE (Veterinary Continuous Education in Europe). Dr Saunders' research interests include all fields of diagnostic imaging. He is (co)author of more than 260 (A1) peer-reviewed articles and promotor of 23 PhD students. He is co-editor of the book ‘Veterinary Computed Tomography’ (2011). Since 2011, Jimmy Saunders has been active mainly in the field of education. He was in charge of the Study Programme Committee at the Veterinary Faculty between 2011 and 2022. He was also chair or member of multiple committees and working groups related to education at both faculty and university level. Since 2022, he is Director of Education of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Dr Saunders is program director of an ECVDI standard residency program at the faculty which has brought forth 30 ECVDI diplomates since 2001.
