Dr. Céline RICHOMME
France
EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Wildlife Population Health
Initially trained as a veterinarian (at the National Vet school of Nantes, France, 1996-2001), I worked during 4 years as a practitioner (cattle and domestic carnivores) while being responsible for projects in national parks for health monitoring programmes for mountain ungulates. I continued my studies with a Master's degree in ecology and then a PhD in ecology (epidemiology of zoonotic diseases in feral pigs). I have been working as a scientific project manager at Anses since 2009. My activities focus on developing knowledge and expertise in the eco-epidemiology of animal diseases in wildlife at the interface with domestic animals and humans, with the operational aim of informing surveillance and management measures for these diseases. The pathogens on which my work has focused are diverse, but the main part concerns nematodes of the genus Echinococcus spp. and mycobacteria of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, in particular M. bovis, the main agent of bovine tuberculosis. Another part of my work involves research into measures and tools for the control or prevention of these diseases, always with the aim of improving their management.
