EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Wildlife Population Health
Dominik graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover in 2009. From 2009 he is working as veterinarian in the Wildlife Zoo Hellenthal and 2009-2020 at the Clinic for Birds, Reptiles, Amphibians and Fish of Justus Liebig University Giessen. His doctoral thesis (Dr. med. vet.) was about aspergillosis in falcons. By completing three 4-years specialization trainings and a 3-years ECZM residency, he earned the German national veterinary specialist status in avian medicine, reptilian medicine, in zoo & wildlife medicine and species conservation, as well as the EVBS® Specialist status as ECZM Diplomate in Wildlife Population Health by examination. Dominik is the current President of the EAAV. Since December 2020 he holds the position as Curator for Research and for Birds, Reptiles, Amphibians and Fish at Zoo Wuppertal, Germany. Besides daily zoo work, he focusses on research in zoo, wildlife and exotic animals, teaching and consulting of breeding collections, zoos and wildlife parks.
