Prof. Katleen Hermans graduated as a veterinarian from Ghent University in 1997 and has been part of the Avian and Exotic Animal Department of the university veterinary clinic ever since. Her expertise lies primarily in the care and treatment of exotic pet mammals. In 2009, she earned the title of European Specialist in the “Small Mammal” specialty of the European College of Zoological Medicine (ECZM). Passionate about teaching, Katleen enjoys sharing her knowledge with specialists, veterinarians, students, veterinary assistants, and animal caretakers—both in the clinic and through hands-on training and lectures. She aims to actively contribute to the advancement of small mammal medicine through practical, research-based approaches.
