Dr. Ciro COCOCCETTA

EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Avian Medicine and Surgery
Graduated from the University of Teramo in 2017, he defended a thesis on wild raptors at the Pescara Wildlife Rescue Center. Passionate about avifauna from the beginning of his career, he trained extensively in both Italian and international wildlife rescue centers. His internships included the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital, the La Alfranca Wildlife Rescue Center in Spain, and the Minnesota Raptor Center. After graduation, he worked for two years at an exotic animal clinic in Rome. From late 2019, he undertook a Residency of the European College of Zoological Medicine (ECZM), Avian specialty, under the supervision of Dr. Minh Huynh. During this period, he also worked for two years in the New Companion Animals Department at the FREGIS Veterinary Hospital in France. After returning to Italy, he joined Dr. Collarile to collaborate on the development of the AvianDoc project. Since September 2023, he has been Head of the New Companion Animals Service at Saint-Martin Veterinary Hospital in Annecy, France. In 2024, he achieved de facto Diplomate status of the American College of Exotic Pet Medicine (ACEPM). In 2025, he became a Diplomate of the European College of Zoological Medicine (ECZM), Avian specialty. In 2026, he became an external consulting specialist in avian medicine for Pairi Daiza. He regularly attends national and international courses, events, and congresses, both as a participant and as a speaker. He has been a member of SIVAE since 2013 and of the AAV and EAAV since 2017.
