Dr. Sophie MOITTIE
Grenada
EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Zoo Health Management
Since graduating from vet school in 2009, Sophie mostly worked in the zoo and wildlife medicine field. Her experiences were varied and included studying Adélie penguins in Antarctica, rehabilitating chimpanzees in Sierra Leone, and working in zoos and marine mammal facilities. She completed a doctorate in great ape cardiac diseases coupled with a ECZM residency in zoo health management in the UK, and is a diplomate of both the European and American College of Zoological Medicine since 2023. She is now an assistant professor at St Georges School of Veterinary Medicine (Grenada, West Indies) and is keen on providing veterinary students with increased exposure to zoo and exotic animal medicine.
