Prof Jorge Del-Pozo is a veterinary pathologist and academic who holds the Personal Chair in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology at The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh, where he is also part of Easter Bush Pathology and The Roslin Institute. He graduated in veterinary medicine from the University of León (Spain) in 2000 and initially worked in meat hygiene supervision and disease control in England. Driven by a long-standing interest in fish health, he completed an MSc in Aquatic Veterinary Studies at the University of Stirling in 2005 followed by a PhD in fish pathology (Rainbow Trout Gastroenteritis). Prof Del-Pozo joined the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in 2009. His research focuses on understanding infectious fish diseases and improving diagnostic approaches—especially for aquaculture species—using techniques such as histopathology, immunohistochemistry, biomarkers and molecular diagnostics. He also contributes pathology expertise to a range of collaborative biomedical and veterinary clinical research projects. In addition to his research, he teaches veterinary pathology to both undergraduate and postgraduate students and mentors pathology residents preparing for specialist examinations.
