She obtained her degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1982, and in 1990 she finished her PhD. She is Full Professor in Parasitology and Parasite Diseases at the Department of Animal Health, where she has supervised 13 doctoral thesis. Moreover, she heads the Infectious Diseases Clinical Unit of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Veterinary Medicine School, Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She leads the research and diagnosis team named Pet Parasite Lab (www.petparastelab.com). Member of the Spanish Society of Parasitology (SOCEPA) and the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (WAAVP) and the International Society for Companion Animla Infectious Diseases (ISCAID). President and founding member of LeishVet international scientific society (www.leishvet.org)(2008-2023) and ESCCAP Spain (www.esccap.org / www.esccap.es) since 2008. She is also a Diplomate member of the European Veterinary Parasitology College (EVPC).
