He obtained a degree in Veterinary Medicine and a Specialization Diploma in Small Animal Clinic at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Milan, attended the Cardiology Course at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Turin , and is a De facto Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Parasitology. He stayed for periods of study, research and teaching abroad at the Universities of Athens (GA), Philadelphia (PEN), Fort Collins (CO), Davis (CA) in the USA and Gifu (Japan). He is author and co-author of more than 50 original papers in international peer reviwed journals related to heartworm disease, small animal parasitic diseases and cardiology, and is editor and author of books and chapters dedicated to the same topics. He has presented more than 150 lectures on the same topics in national and international congresses in Italy, Spain, France, England, Russia, Croatia, Slovenia Serbia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Poland, USA, Japan, Brazil, Chile and Cuba. He is a past President of the European Society of Dirofilariosis and Angiostrongylosis, and honorary member of the Bulgarian Veterinary Cardiology Society. Since 2018 he has been qualified as Associate Professor sector C 07/H3 INFECTIOUS AND PARASITIC DISEASES OF ANIMALS. He is the appointed Official Consultant of the Court of Pavia for disputes regarding veterinary medicine
