Charlotte Bjørnvad, DVM; PhD, Dipl. ECVCN (European college of veterinary comparative nutrition), Professor of Companion animal internal medicine, is a specialist in veterinary comparative nutrition, heading the research group comparative and clinical nutrition as well as clinical nutrition specialist service at the University hospital for companion animals, Department of veterinary clinical sciences, University of Copenhagen. She teaches clinical nutrition and gastrointestinal and endocrine diseases for veterinary students as well as on the post-graduate Master of Companion Animal Clinical Sciences. Furthermore, she has initiated a post- graduate education for veterinary technicians in clinical nutrition.
Charlotte Bjørnvad´s research focuses on nutrition and lifestyle related disease in dogs and cats with a special emphasis on obesity, digestion, intestinal health and metabolism. She has published more than 60 original manuscripts in international peer reviewed journals, three book chapters relating to determination of body composition and nutritional management of diabetic cats and dogs.
