EBVS® European Specialist in Veterinary Neurology
Graduated 1992, specialisation 1996, PhD 2005. Veterinary specialist in Neurology. He is a diplomat of the European College of Veterinary Neurology (ECVN) and as such a European specialist (EBVS). In addition to this specialisation, he also obtained in 1997 the Dutch specialisation in Internal Medicine.
After obtaining his specialisation he worked in various positions at the University Clinic for Companion Animals (including researcher, trainer, and head of the neurology department). He is currently an associate professor in neurogenetics at the expertise centre of genetics of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Next to this he works parttime at the Evidensia Dierenziekenhuis Arnhem as veterinary neurologist with a strong focus on neurological (breed-related) hereditary diseases. He is currently supervising five PhD projects (see also www.uu.nl/ecgg), is ECVN supervisor, member of the expertise centre of genetics of the faculty of veterinary medicine (ECGD), member of the International Veterinary Epilepsy Taskforce, the International Veterinary Diskynesia Taskforce, and the “Fairdog” steering committee (on behalf of the Royal Dutch Society for Veterinary Medicine). In daily life he is married, father of two sons, loves long distance walks and survivalruns.
