Gayle graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2002 and completed a large animal internship and then large animal internal medicine and critical care residencies at the Royal Veterinary College, London. She then moved to the University of Nottingham and became an HBLB research scholar undertaking a PhD investigating aortic valve prolapse in the horse. She stayed at the University of Nottingham for 15 years reaching the position of Full Professor. After a brief stint as global education lead for a large corporate, she returned to private practice. Her research interests include gastric and cardiac disease. In addition to her clinical role, she is Editor In Chief for Veterinary Medicine and Science, a Wiley journal and trustee for SPANA. She is chair of the education committee for ECVSMR.
