Dr. Félix Acosta Arbelo, born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1969, completed his university studies at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where he graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 1997, defending his degree thesis in 1999 and the Thesis Doctoral in 2002. Since its inception. , worked in the line of ichthyopathology research with various national and international publications, with the completion of the Doctoral Thesis, his activity has focused on the field of immunology, mainly on the study of the non-specific immune response, making training periods in reference centers (FRS Marine Laboratory, Scotland), as well as publications in the best located magazines in the area and in the detection of biotoxins. Currently, he is a professor at the University in the Area of Animal Health, with the profile of Infectious Diseases and Ichthiopathology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the ULPGC, and develops his research activity at the University Institute of Aquaculture and Marine Ecosystems (IU - ECOAQUA) of the ULPGC. He has participated in 24 projects financed with public or private and regional, national or European funds, of which he has been (or is) the lead researcher in 6 of them, and is co-author of 83 publications in international scientific journals, and patent (P201101353). . He has a proven teaching capacity for training, participating since 2004 as a professor and current director of the ULPGC Master's in Marine Cultures, as well as in the Animal Health and Sustainable Aquaculture and Marine Ecosystems doctoral programs of the ULPGC, all of them With a mention of Excellence from the Ministry, this training capacity is completed with the supervision of 8 doctoral theses, 4 master's theses and 12 master's theses.
