Dr. Chiara ZULLIAN

EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Laboratory Animal Medicine
Born and raised in Italy, Chiara Zullian earned her degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Parma in 2004 and a PhD in Pharmacology in 2010. She then moved to Montréal, Canada, where she conducted postdoctoral research in Neuropharmacology at the Université de Montréal. In 2014, she began a residency in Laboratory Animal Medicine at the Université de Montréal and obtained her Diplôme d'études supérieures (DES) in 2018. After more than a decade in Canada, she returned to Europe, gaining experience in both France and Sweden in various roles within Laboratory Animal Medicine. Since 2021, she has been working at Karolinska Institutet as a Laboratory Animal Veterinarian and currently serves as Designated Veterinarian, contributing also to teaching and training. In 2022, she became a Diplomate of the European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine. From 2025 onward, she has served as a consultant veterinarian for research activities at the Public Health Agency of Sweden and, since September of the same year, as an ad hoc Specialist for AAALAC International. Her professional interests include aquatic animal medicine and other non-conventional species. Outside her professional work, she has a strong interest in literature, electronic and avant-garde music, and experimental cinema.
