Born and raised in Italy, Chiara Zullian graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Parma, Italy, in 2004. In 2010, she completed a PhD in Veterinary Pharmacology at the same institution and soon after, moved to Montréal, Canada, to pursue postdoctoral studies in Neuropharmacology at the Université de Montréal.
In 2014, she began her journey in Laboratory Animal Medicine with an ACLAM residency program at the Université de Montréal, under the supervision of Professor Pascal Vachon, and earned a Diplôme d'études supérieures (DES) in 2018.
After spending over a decade in Canada, she returned to Europe and gained professional experience in both France and Sweden, taking on various roles within the field of Laboratory Animal Medicine. Since 2021, she has been working at Karolinska Institutet as a Designated Veterinarian and is also actively involved in educational activities at the same institution.
She became a Diplomate of the European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine in 2022 and has a strong interest in aquatic animal medicine and other non-conventional species.
During 2025, Chiara has been appointed consultant veterinarian for some of the research work performed at the Public Health Agency of Sweden and since September of the same year, she serves AAALAC International as an ad Hoc Specialist.
Outside of Veterinary Medicine, Chiara is passionate about literature, electronic and avant-garde music, and experimental cinema.
