Dominique De Clercq was the first head of the clinic of the department Large Animal Internal Medicine (internal medicine - emergency and critical care) at Ghent University. She worked at the university from 1999 until the end of 2019, as a clinician, a teacher and researcher, She is a co-founder (in 2001) of the Equine Cardio group at Ghent University. Since the end of 2019, she works as an ambulatory consultant – Equine internist specialist. She works on regular basis in private specialized Equine clinics in Belgium and Germany. Her ambulatory consulting practice is focusing on cardiology, sports medicine, and all topics of internal medicine.
