Dr Vivienne Duggan, graduated from the Veterinary College of Ireland, University College Dublin in 1999. She has been a board certified specialist with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Large Animal) since 2004 and with the European College of Equine Internal Medicine since 2007. After a period of time in general mixed and in private equine practice in Ireland and New Zealand, she joined the veterinary faculty at UCD in 2006. She is now an Associate Professor and Head of the Section of Equine Clinical Studies, Diagnostic Imaging and Anaesthesia. In the UCD Veterinary Hospital, she consults on referral equine cases and supervises graduate veterinarians who are working towards specialization in Residency Training Programmes. Her research interests include equine infectious disease, equine welfare and equine endocrinology and she has over 70 peer-reviewed scientific publications in the field of equine medicine. She is a Past President of Veterinary Ireland, holding that role in 2014 and was elected President of the Veterinary Council of Ireland from 2022-2024.
