
Dr. Carles Blasi Brugué

Carles graduated from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (AUB) in 2013. Following experiences in mixed general practice and impactful work with the Thangam Memorial Trust in Tirupur, India, he returned to AUB for a rotating internship and later pursued a PhD program in Feline Transfusion Medicine at the Animal Blood Bank in the AUB.
Combining his passion for teaching and clinical practice, Carles served as an associate professor at the Department of Medicine and Animal Surgery while practicing at the University Veterinary Hospital. His journey continued with the Internal Medicine Residency program at the veterinary hospital of the AUB (ECVIM-CA). He has also worked as an advisor in internal Medicine at Concordia Pet Care Veterinary Hospital in Shanghai, China.
Post-residency, he continued as an Internal Medicine Specialist at Eastcott Referrals (UK) and later as the co-head of the Internal Medicine team at AniCura Glòries Hospital Veterinari (Barcelona) and as an internal medicine consultant for Zoetis, all while remaining connected with the University of Barcelona, fostering collaboration and continuing his research endeavors at the Department of Medicine and Animal Surgery. Carles later transitioned to Ireland, where he now holds the position of Assistant Professor of the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine, where he actively integrates his clinical duties with a keen dedication to teaching and research.
He is interested in all aspects of internal medicine, with a special interest in immunology, hematology, transfusion medicine and coagulation, areas in which he has done research and published studies in international peer-reviewed scientific journals.
