Mark graduated from Utrecht University, The Netherlands in 2004. After graduation he worked in several companion animal clinics and developed an interest in cardiology. From 2012 onwards he combined his work in private practice with a residency training programme at the university veterinary hospital. In March 2017 he became a European specialist in cardiology (Diplomate ECVIM-CA Cardiology). From 2017 until 2019 he continued to work as a cardiology specialist in a referral only private hospital and the Utrecht university veterinary hospital. In January 2019 he moved from the Netherlands to Sweden where he is currently based at one of the larger companion animal hospitals in Europe, Evidensia Södra animal hospital in the Stockholm area. He leads the cardio department of the hospital where he is involved in patient care, research and teaching of vets and nurses. Additionally, he is an associate editor for the Journal of Veterinary Cardiology and a board member of the European Society of Veterinary Cardiology.
