I graduated from the Cambridge Veterinary School, working in first opinion veterinary practice for 5 years before becoming a Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. I then moved to the USA as an Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and then the Ohio State University. I returned to the UK in 2004, joining the Royal Veterinary College, London, where I am a Professor of Veterinary Cardiology. I am a past Chair of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Cardiology Specialty, and was Chair of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Feline Cardiomyopathy Consensus Statement group.
