I completed an oncology residency at Cambridge University (1993) and was awarded an FRCVS by examination in Small Animal Oncology followed by a PhD on chromosome translocations in breast cancer cell lines (1997). After a period of post-doctoral research in Cambridge and then Glasgow, I became Senior Lecturer and Head of the Oncology referral service at Glasgow University in 2003, with promotion to Professor in 2015. I am an RCVS (2005) & EBVS specialist (2007) in Small Animal Oncology with current research interests in lymphoma and anal sac tumours, particularly with respect to serum biomarkers.
