Gabriella Elia is Full Professor of Infectious Diseases of Animals at the Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Bari, Italy. Coordinator of Master’s Degree Programme in Veterinary Medicine (2022-current) and Rector’s Delegate for Education in the Biomedical Area at the University of Bari (2025-current). Member of the Board of the PhD Programme in Animal Health and Zoonoses. Member (2019-2024), then President (2024-current) of the Board of Directors of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale della Puglia e della Basilicata. Spoke Leader within the PNRR INF-ACT project, “One Health Basic and Translational Research Actions Addressing Unmet Needs in Emerging Infectious Diseases” (2022-2026). Member of the Board of the Italian Society of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (Si.Di.L.V.) (2019-2025).
Her main research interests focus on viral pathogens affecting companion and livestock animals, including their molecular epidemiology, diagnosis and control. She has authored or co-authored 157 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals and has an h-index of 55 (Scopus).
