João Rodrigo Mesquita is a Professor since 2006 and is currently an Associate Professor teaching Veterinary Microbiology at the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of Porto. His research interests are primarily focused on virology, particularly zoonotic viruses, with a special interest in emerging infectious diseases. His work encompasses the epidemiology, molecular characterization, transmission dynamics, and control of viral pathogens at the human–animal–environment interface within a One Health framework.
