Per Wallgren became a veterinarian in 1982 and worked as a practisioner for four years. He was empoyed by the National Veterinary Institute, SVA in 1986, and completed his dissertation regarding respiratory diseases and immune functions in growing pigs in 2003. He became acting state veterinarian 2004 and state veterinarian in 1999. He has been a guest professor at the Swedish University of Agricutural Sciences, SLU, since 2000 and professor at SVA since 2011. He has 132manuscripts published in Scinetific journals, 190 reports to international congresses and 111scientific manuscripts in Swedish. He has been a scientific supervisor to 17 terminated Academic degrees
