Dr. Wolfgang Bäumer is professor at the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Freie Universität Berlin as of July 2017. From 2013 to 2017 he was associate professor of Pharmacology at the College of Veterinary Medicine, NC State University. Dr. Bäumer received his doctoral degree from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover, Germany in 1999 and his postdoctoral lecture qualification (Dr.med.vet.habil.) for Pharmacology and Toxicology in 2007. Dr. Bäumer’s research focus is in the field of immune-pharmacology. Currently, pharmacological targets like the histamine H4 receptor, JAK-STAT-inhibitors and the chemokine thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) are studied with emphasis on treating allergic skin diseases.
