Prof. dr. Mathias Devreese graduated as a veterinarian (Ghent University, Belgium). After graduation, he immediately started his PhD research at the Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology. During his PhD research he performed a research stay of several months at the Department of Animal Biosciences at the University of Guelph (ON, Canada). After gaining his PhD he obtained a post-doctoral research grant from the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) to establish a juvenile piglet model for preclinical pediatric pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic research. He took a research sabbatical at the Institute of Computational Comparative Medicine (ICCM) at Kansas State University (KS, USA). Mathias Devreese is currently associate professor of veterinary pharmacology and therapeutics at Ghent University. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics (AAVPT) and the European Association for Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology (EAVPT) and a member of the Animal Health Modeling and Simulation Society (AHMSS). He also serves as an associate editor for the journal BMC Veterinary Research (Pharmacology and Toxicology section) and as Scientific Board member of the Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics and board member of the Belgian Centre for Veterinary Pharmacotherapeutic Information.
