Dr Carlos Lanusse is a full Professor of Veterinary Pharmacology at the Universidad Nacional del Centro, Tandil, Argentina, former Director of the Center for Veterinary Research (CIVETAN) and Director of the Science and Technology Center from the Argentina National Council of Research (CONICET) at Tandil. He has had an outstanding research and academic career in veterinary pharmacology oriented to improving the control of veterinary parasites. Dr Lanusse was trained as a veterinarian at the Universidad Nacional del Centro (Tandil, Argentina) (1982). Then he completed a first Doctoral degree in Veterinary Pharmacology from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (Argentina) (1986). After that doctorate, he completed a Ph.D. program at the Institute of Parasitology, McGill University, Montreal, Canada (1991) where he worked on the pharmacology of anthelmintics used to control veterinary parasites. Since 1992 he has been acting as Scientific Director of a research program on the "Pharmacology of antiparasitic drugs in ruminants", which has received financial support from several national/international agencies. An important number of Ph.D. students and Fellowship recipients, some of which are now well established as reputed scientists in veterinary medicine, have received their training in Veterinary Pharmacology under Dr. Lanusse’s supervision. He has been teaching Veterinary Pharmacology to undergraduate and graduate students for many years.
