I have a keen interest in managing health and rehabilitation, and practice sports medicine in an integrative way with the top priority to keep horses healthy through managing all aspects of their health. I have also developed from the ground up a partnered equine hospital as well as a University Equine Hospital in two different continents and managed a University Teaching Hospital with over 100 employees. In the research field, I have a special interest in translational medicine, experimental surgery and animal models and in this area I have primarily worked with osteoarthritis in sheep and horses and xenotransplantation in swine. I also have an interest on developing an objective and practical method of gait analysis system using inertial sensors, to use kinematics to integrate them with other parameters in a real time biofeedback digital platform for the evaluation of equine performance and lameness and models which use pain as an indicator of severity and/or therapeutic intervention's results.
I have a special interest in helping develop and shape veterinary specialties in Spain.
