The applicant may be appointed as an Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track) or as a full Professor, depending on their qualifications and career stage. All stages of the tenure track can be entered directly depending on the applicant’s career stage. The aim of the tenure track system is to grant tenure and a permanent position as Professor. The position will be at the Department of Production Animal Medicine in Mäntsälä campus (approximately one hour north of Helsinki). The appointee will be responsible for teaching, research and continuing education of health and diseases of monogastric production animals. The main focus will be in pig health and diseases, however, the appointee will also carry responsibility for coordinating teaching of poultry medicine. The appointee will be required to have experience in clinical pig medicine, including diseases of individual animals and population level preventive healthcare.

The appointee will be responsible for the area of veterinary diagnostic imaging in teaching, research, clinical services and continuing education. The main focus can be either in small animal or equine diagnostic imaging, however, teaching will also include relevant aspects in production animal medicine.

The overall objective of this lecturer position is to contribute to the design, development and delivery of the Veterinary Medicine undergraduate programme in the School of Science and Computing at South East Technological University, Waterford Campus in conjunction with Teagasc Kildalton Agricultural College and support the establishment and operation of veterinary clinical training via the Veterinary Distributed Clinical Network.

The UCD Veterinary Hospital has state of the art equipment including CT, MRI, ultrasound, interventional radiology, full endoscopy and arthroscopy, laser, a radioactive iodine unit and fully equipped surgical and intensive care suites. Ancillary support includes rehabilitation and physiotherapy. The Small Animal Clinical Studies Section currently has capacity for 13 Clinical Academics Clinicians including four surgery, six internal medicine, two emergency and critical care and one oncology specialist. These staff are supported by 10 interns (rotating and discipline specific), 9 residents and a full team of ancillary staff.

The University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover Foundation is seeking to fill a W2 professorship for “Small Animal Surgery” (m/f/d) in the Clinic for Small Animals (at the Clinical Center Bünteweg) as soon as possible.
